Can one of you nice folks tell me what equipment I should buy to set up a studio fo rmy 9 year old? I would like to have a keyboard and the abilty to record and loop. There is soo much equipment and I am not a musician.
Thanks to any an all.

I may be wrong, but it sounds like you're planning on going computer-based (i think this would actually be easier). FL Studio (Fruity Loops) is a fairly cheap pc-based computer program made for looping and recording midi (keyboard). It should come with enough soft-synths to keep you busy for a long time. Are you planning on recording any audio tracks (as in with a microphone/vocals)? If so, you may want to look into a program like Sonar Home Studio (Cakewalk) or N-track. This may help: http://emusician.com/mag/emusic_sequencing_shoestring/

Get back to us with more details and we will provide a better answer.

Just to clarify: you should be able to record midi from the keyboard right into your computer and then use softsynths on the computer to give it sound.

You may need to install a better soundcard and (this is obvious) you will need the right cables to conect the keyboard to the PC. Cakewalk Music Creator is a good software package for what it sounds like you want to be able to do.

Would the Cakewalk Music Creator 2 be good if I want to record my own music & want to lay down the vocal, guitar, bass, drum tracks, myself...or would that require something different?
Since I'm new & know absolutely nothing, I like to spend the least $$ to find out if I can adapt my analog mind to digital technology & Music Creator is really cheap compared to Cakewalk sonar Home Studio.

oh forgot....what about Cakewalk Music Creator Pro 24...is it useable for what I want ot do?
