Hello all! I'm just getting started with personal vocal recording. I say personal because I have done recording but I worked for an institution with tens of thousands of dollars worth of equipment and it was pretty easy to do at that point with a good ear. Now I'm just trying to do some stuff for my wife and some youth that I know, but I have hardly any money and been away from the "game" for a few years - but here is what I have:
I have a Shure SM57 - I know there are better ones out there, but I already have it.
A Macbook Pro with Garageband - I think I will record with this.
All the cables I will need (XLR, 1/4", USB, Firewire)
A Pop Screen
Now I know the thing I need next is a USB device to pull in the microphone input and send the correct level to the computer. Can anyone recommend a good, small unit that is inexpensive? I'm almost sure that I'm only going to be recording 1 track at a time.
If there is anything I am missing please let me know...
