I have cubase le and a m-audio 49e keyboard (usb or midi out). Can I use a midi program with this setup. I think LE only comes with a couple of synths. I have plugged the keyboard in via usb, and opened up a new project, but I cant figure out how to get sound. The monitor level moves when I hit a key, but nothing out of the speakers. Could anyone point me in the right direction. Thanks

Check to make sure that cubase is sending the sound to your monitors. I have sx, and you can do that by going under devices then to device setup, then the vst multitrack tab. Hope this helps.

It appears that you are in fact sending midi into Cubase. You need to have that midi signal recorded in Cubase to a midi module or VST that is capable of producing a tone/sound.

How do you go about setting up the VST instrument. I went to devices>VST instruments>basic bass I have the firepod set as the output device. Even when I hit record and play some keys notes appear on the track. I just cant monitor or playback any sound

You need to set the output of the MIDI track to use the VST Instrument that you loaded not the outputs of the Firepod.

If your monitors are hooked to your soundcard then set the output to your soundcard.

Well Im not using a soundcard as an output, my firepod is hooked into my monitors. I can play audio tracks back through it, but no midi. I have sucessfuly got the midi to play through my laptops speakers. Is what I am trying to do even possible?
