ok, in an effort to save space, i was looking in my AUDIO folder, and it appears that all my takes (say i did 3 until i was happy with a bass track) are still in there. I'm pretty new at using my computer for this, so bear with me. is there a way to purge this through Cubase or do i just grab by older files and trash them? how does this work?

thanks!

From the audio pool screen you can "remove unused media". You then have the option to remove it from the project (but the original file still stays in your audio folder), or completely delete it from your hard drive. However, files are not considered "unused" if they are still in your project and just covered up by another file.

Also, make sure that every song has its own folder before you do this. For example... if you have two songs that use the same audio folder. You open up song 1 and instruct Cubase to remove unused media. Cubase looks through the audio folder for any files that are not used in the currently opened song and then you tell it to delete unused media. In relaity, you have also just thrown away all of the files for the other song as well as the files from song 1 that you are not using. So be careful:)
