have a look at Gepco, I found them to be the best at the moment, and very cost effective

I use colored cables for my supernova but for the rest of my gear it's undeniably black, so i tie them together.
It's also a pain to get to my bed though, i'm constantely trippin on the darn power wires. :(

In my apartment before I moved to this house, I had a neatly bundled, undeniably gross cable snake running from the "studio" bedroom (9'x10') out the door, around a tight bend, and down the stairs 2/3 of the way, then over the banister to a pair of 19" racks with my adats when I had them. SOme of the synths were down there too. Hey, it all didn't fit in the bedroom. :)

The scary thing is I used mostly unbalanced cabling (synths generally don't have TRS outputs), so I had used <cough> RG59 coax. Why? Its thick, indestructable, has a nice thick conductor inside, and I had two spools of it :)

I like my new studio. I can wave my arms over my head and not cut myself on gear thats too darn close to my seat :)

i can barely move at my bedroom/studio. :( I wish i had somewhere else to put it.

Been there survived that, its sucks, it really does. Its almost impossible to have even REASONABLE acoustics when surrounded by reflective metal with lots of oddly shaped knobs and such.

Hence, my contsant use of comforters in my "studio" which was more like a wire pit.

Happy to have moved.

I purchased a "Brother" label maker for under $175. Its typically used for labeling patch panels, but one can put "A1I A1I A1I A1I", press print, then take the little label and wrap it around the cable's plug. Then, I wrap that in scotch tape.

You too noticed that the self adhesive labelling tapes are sucky?

(Same trick with a Dymo Letratag 2000 + Scotch tape)

I need to buy a new house so I can...

Build a bigger studio and avoid the wiring nightmare!

Cabling gets really tricky when your tracking room and the control room are in different zip codes. :D

I'm tired of loading this box into the car. Hopefully soon, when I can throw enough money into it, all I'll have to do is remove a hard drive and stick it in my pocket. :)

or dig a tunnel. :D

:D

;) Just save up for a Stagetec system, and an A/V SAN for storage.
2 thin wires............ can run 126 tracks for up to 2 miles without noticeable latency. A little on the expensive side though :D

I lost count of the number of hooks on my walls and celings. I like to keep as many cables off the floor as possible. Velcro strips are the greatest bundling device I've discovered so far. Although limited to a few colors to choose from, colored electrical tape wrapped around cable ends is a quick way to identify cables.

My wife totally hates wires or cabels going any where, so I either

a) have to keep them neat
b) not use them at all (which she would probably prefer)
c) hide them

Now which one do you think that I try to get away with as long as I can? Exacly so I sit there and shove them down any nook or cranny that I can, and that is where they can and will become a squerrels nest.

I try to keep things neat by labelling and colour coding everything but it gets very messy every-so-often, particularly when I get a new piece of gear. I get all excited and plug cables in everywhere! Or if something doesn't work, I start ripping out cables behind the rack to find the problem. I can be a bit impulsive and I usually end up sitting behind the rack for hours sorting out the mess that took about 2 mins to create!
