THIS IS ALL NEW TO ME. I WRITE CHRISTIAN SONGS AND WOULD JUST LOVE TO BE ABLE TO RECORD THEM, BUT I DON'T UNDERSTAND ANY OF THIS. WOULD SOMEONE TELL ME EXACTLY WHAT I NEED TO DO TO GET STARTED; AND EXPLAIN IT TO A DUMB OLE COUNTRY GIRL,PLEASE?

Hey there baby... wanna come sit on my lap... hehe... sorry, we don't get many chicks around here, but it's great you've found this place!!!

Firstly, it would help to know your budget... we can all tell what you should buy, but at the end of the day, you probably aren't gonna go out and sink $10000 into something you may get tired of next week... give us a ballpark figure and we may be able to help you out a bit more.

Good Luck

NOT $10000 FOR SURE. LET ME KNOW WHAT I CAN DO ON THE LOWEST BUDGET.I'M NOT A PROFESSIONAL, BUT I WOULD LIKE TO BE ABLE TO RECORD MY SONGS, BUT MAINLY FOR ME! THANKS FOR REPLYING.

For a few of hundred you could get little tape based 4-track recorder and a mic. This uses both sides of a regular audio tape and basically gives 4 separate audio tracks (can do more but lose quality). Have a read of some of the articles at the main part of the site.

Howdy
Well what kind of medium do you want your music to end up on? Cassette or CD? Or, Do you want to just record it into your computer and then play it back for you and your family? How many instruments do you want to have recorded with your vocals? How much money do you have to spend on gear to get your hobby started? We are all willing to help guide you But we need more information so that we can answer responsibly.

OH! by the way..Welcome aboard.

Well.....[as Jack Benny used to say] CherylovesU and Grizzly and the Hornet and the rest. Amen.

Here is what you might want to do just for a start:

Find someone who has a home studio and smile nice and for a few bucks go there are record/sing/play/whatever a couple of your tunes. Take a look at the equipment and ask the engineer how you might start on a budget.

You need something that records; something like a mic; some cables; some speakers; a mix-down deck of somesorts; and maybe an integrated amplifier to run your system. Or, you could go the PC trail; or many other mediums of recording; but, your key words were: BUDGET...easy on the wallet. Well, you do need to spend something to keep the economy going.

Welcome to the group.

Hello;
Welcome to the forum. I am also a Christian who writes and records songs.

If you can afford it, I'd suggest an ADAT (8 track digital) recorder. You will need a mixer and amp speakers etc.

ADAT's are industry standards, so you can go to many studios to add tracks, mixdown etc.

I would also be interested in trading tapes.
I could add guitar, piano Steel Guitar etc. to your basic tracks.

Sincerely;

Dom Franco
