i've recorded(as in, played and been recorded) several demo's and EP's in studios, as well as helped out recording engineers, just cleaning up and setting up mics, adjusting stuff, etc.
just recently, i moved to go to school, and i've decided to save up for some gear. i know what i want for starters, but that isn't what this thread is about.
when i moved, i lost contact with my recording engineer buddies. so they told me what to buy, now i don't know what to do.
so my question for now, is this:
what levels do i shoot for when recording? how about after/during the mixdown?
do my monitors need to be at a certain volume?
basically, volume. help me out with that. links, advice, whatever.
thanks a bunch!
