Hey I got nothing to do really and I was thinking about what name I could use for myself...

I'm making music alone and I think I'll keep going that way kinda like Moby. Music style could be described as Radiohead + Muse + Coldplay if you see what I mean.

Personnaly, if Radiohead wasnt already taken I would jump on it :) I really like that name.

Anyway... so here I am, making music alone and if I ever get to finish my first CD then I will need a name. Cause.. ya know, my real name is Yann... which sounds terrible heh. So.. any of you got ideas? Just throw them in and maybe something's gonna fit. Cause seriously I've been thinking about that a couple times and I get nowhere.

here ya go....

Some Names rejected by sane people.....

Omish Drive by
Flaxin Black
Rusty Swingset
Bud Hienekin
Ankle bitters
Pheonix down
Maxa Maelstrom
Barny rubble and the cunt stubble.. (actually that was my old thrash band but you can have it)

Barny rubble and the cunt stubble..

hahaha that's one of the best names i've heard in a long time!

if you like the name 'Radiohead' you should just corrupt that name..... like
Stereohead, or Radiobrain or RadioNoggin or Stereoface

There used to be an app around called "BANG".
Band name generator...
Don't know if it's still around somewhere.

Did a search on google, there's lots of "band name generators".

Radioplay...it's a combo of two of your favorite bands and it's catchy too.

your influences sound very cool. I recently got into the modern Radiohead (rock/techno/orchestra/ambience) and I grow to love that style more and more.

Anyway, for me, I prefer band names to have some personal meaning as well as sounding memorable and/or clever. Seems like when you think of a really cool name, its taken by some band somewhere. If you don't want people to think you are a pop-punk band or some other silly thing, I would shy away from a name that is in essence, a joke.

It sounds like you are kind of doing relatively serious music, at least based on serious emotions, not just partying and sex and general rock n roll. So I would shoot for something that has some personal significance for you, and has a sound to it that would give someone (who has not heard the music yet) the impression that you want them to get.

For example, I really like the C.S. Lewis book series Chronicles of Narnia, and in particular, The Lion THe WItch and The Wardrobe. So I've been thinking about naming my new solo project something related to Aslan, the lion from the book. It would be obscure enough to go along with the artsy fartsy style of music I'm doing (similar to what it sounds like you are doing :)) but not so obscure that people are annoyed by it.

do an internet search for 'bang 300'...........i think that's what it's called.........it's a random band name generator.........comes up with some pretty cool stuff

just a couple of thoughts-movie/book references can really rock, as miracle whipkey was mentioning. for something technological, maybe a sci-fi reference, like to the dune series, some william gibson stuff, or some philip k. dick? i've been looking at dune references for band/song/album ideas.
