A lot of the mixes are maximized. When you send a mix to the mastering studio you don't send a maximized track. I think that also is important the correct volume and if it's possible mastering this track.
Sorry for my bad English and spellings faults heheh

I had a bash:

How do you link it to the contest?

I used Sonar X1 and crysonic, waves, rob pappen and soundtoys, breverb plugs via Roland quad capture USB and Alesis monitors and ATH-M220 heaphones.

for me too much delay. good luck

Here's a sneak peek of my mix. Not quite through with the vox but my ears need a break. Suggestions welcome...

I like the vox, but the guitar no sounds clean here in my studio. too much efects maybe

Hi Mates!!
I'm Indy Lopez from Spain.
I am delighted with this mixes contest, mainly for two big reasons:
1st the opportunity to mix this great song out of my usual style.(Normally House Music is my place) and 2nd the hope that many of you give me your opinion and get better at this art.

The idea has been to give it a modern mix, respecting it is a live recording, the artist but always with my personality.

I've created a kick clean with punch, plates, snare and toms with natural color, bass has one track modulated in center mono and one stereo to cover nice with energy, the lead guitar track have an subtle spreader effect that gives movement that sometimes seem to have more than one guitars And for the voice I gave a little tube hot color and a subtle opening , short delay, rever with Nectar to do a Rock-soul modern and fresh style .

Hope you like it!

All opinion, comments....etc are welcome.

Good luck to everyone

To Sychronia:
Kick gets a little overwhelmed, but I like your base mix. Also, a little top end eq would go a long way to make the whole thing come together. Vocals have it, but the rest is made dark by the lack of. Good work@!

Thanks for listening, I decided to keep the kick not so evident.. maybe I could add some 5k to make it more upfront but in the end I went for a more natural sound. Thanks again for your comment! ;)

Every time I try to adjust my mix I go back and listen to my first mix and proceed to trash the "fixed" mix. There's that feed back early in the song after the first chorus. Irritating but what can you do?

Wow, almost 1000 mixes, I wonder where this ends?

Nice job. One of the saner mixes I've heard so far. (I'm not pointing any fingers!).

I really hope they take those Puremix subscriptions and give them to people who could really use them. Likewise with the gear. I'd really hate to see those Focals go to some dude sitting behind a $300,000.00 SSL and a couple of Bowers and Wilkins or Genelec 1036a. Because you know that a guy who already has an established studio is only going to want them for the hoard value. Sure give them the guy with the best mix who could use a new set of monitors....channel strip, microphone, DAW.

I like a lot of the mixes myself. There were a lot of people who did not catch certain things in the mix though. I think I got them all. I saw a comment on people maximizing their mixes. I did mine. If they want it unmastered, it can easily be done.

I would bash my face in if I had to listen to a song 1000 different times and have each one a little bit different.

Well, good luck to me, right!? LOL

With more than a thousand participants one can't help but wonder if the jury will listen to every mix? It simply does not seem reasonable...
