I'm planning to open a small business - renting PA gear to live bands and providing a soundman (me, so I can watch the gear). I just figured: I have all the gear, might as well make some extra cash on the weekends at first. I also plan to open a studio and I could find clients through meeting the live bands. Anyway, here's what I put on the flier so far. Do you like it and how much would you say I should charge?

The best way to rent sound equipment

It’s never been easier to play a gig! Just bring your instruments and amplifiers and let us do the rest!

 We will provide a complete PA system, monitors, microphones, mic stands and cables.
 Better yet, we will provide a soundman, who will help you set up and sound your best!
 Guitar & Bass amplifiers, effect pedals and instruments, such as guitars, basses and drums available at an additional cost.
 It’s like renting equipment and getting a soundman for free!

A “coffee-shop” or acoustic setup is available at a lower rate.
End quote.

I plan to have a "medium venue" package, which would include subwoofers, a "small venue" - still an electric band outfit, but with no subwoofers, which means I can setup without a roadie and need less cargo space and a "coffee-shop" package - acoustic setup - no drums, just PA and instrument mics.

Any and all advice is greatly apreciated. Thank you.

Yo Junk Man Of Used GEAR:

Charge a lot man. People who rent treat what they rent like an unwanted brother-in-law.

Or, make sure you get one hellova security deposit if you are renting good gear.

If you don't get a deposit, your good gear will appear in Jakarta doing the Phoon-a-boon.

Thanks for the advice. I'm planning to BE THERE to watch the gear and I'll have a roadie.

It would probably be hard to charge a lot, because then nobody'd want it, right?

Anyway, thanks.
