HA! that made me laugh (the singer comment..not the song....he's not the worst i've heard). You guys really really really remind me of my old high school band...and you sound like your havin alot of fun (i liked the ending guitar solo and drum splash...). How did you record it? Man, I know that snare tone you have. I have that snare tone you have! You CAN work with what you got to make it better! Give some recording details....

Man, you really like those E, A, C, G chords eh? Well just a word of caution: not everyone does, or at least not for 6 minutes and 11 seconds. However epic it may seem when your jamming in your garage, its not quite so interesting to sit down a listen to. I'd say the song could be at least half as long and not loose anything. Concerning your singer, I don't think he was half bad. He definitely has his own style going, and wasn't trying too hard to force his voice to sound like something its not. I think if he sticks with it he could develop quite an interesting style.

We recorded on A Tascam 424MkIII 4- Track. We used one mic on drums, thats why it sounds tinny. We used one mic on the guitarists and and one mic on the singer. We are a high school band looking for anything to help us progress.
 
I like it. It reminds me of my high school band, too. I agree with the others. It could be half as long and it needs a chorus. Just a slight shift in chords. This will also force your singer to play around with other melodies.

I knew it! (about high school and such)...Im not going to tell you to cut the length of your tunes or change them...i mean, part of the cool thing about being in high school is doing whatever the hell you want...cause you want to and it's fun for YOU! I also remember pulling off my own 3 minute ripping guitar solo's in 7 minute songs. Not necessarily something I aim for now...but man, for back then i would not have it any other way damit! Regardless, the other posters have some good comments on the song structure..so take my rant for what its worth.

If your stuck with your current equipment, and you can't get anymore...then learn how to "ping pong" on your machine. You can use multiple mics when recording the drums, and then at some stage "ping pong" them down to free up more tracks for the guitars and vocals etc. What mics are you using? Could you get access to another mixer?

Man...im gonna post some of my cassette high school stuff....them days was fun!
