FX on LE help!

Okay, as I understand it, if I want to apply an effect to an audio track, have to "send" the audio track to an FX track, so I need to create an FX track, right?
Only problem is an FX track is not a type of track that LE is letting me choose to make...
And how can I use an effect on only a small section of a track, instead of the whole track?

I use SX, so I am not sure if you have the option, but look up "processing" in your manual and see if it is available to you. It lets you apply an effect to a small section, or really any sized section for that matter, to a track.
 
thanks. That helps a little. I still can't apply a vst effect to a certain spot, but now i can apply fades and phase reverses and a few other things. thanks.
 
After rereading your question, unless SX and LE are waaaaay the heck different, you should have the option to apply effects to your track as an insert, or as a send (my other answer about processing still applies to your second question). As an insert you are applying an effect directly to the track and is track specific. A send sends your audio through your fx send where you can have multiple tracks using an effect with the same settings. So if you had multiple tracks that you wanted to have the exact same verb on them, using the send saves you time and resources.

If LE really has some fx track, I don't know about it and I apologize for having you read all of the above.

To do this, you would want to use the processing. You might be able to do it by automating the effect as well. Mabye another LE user can shed some light on that.
 
You could just cut the part of the track that you want to be effected and paste it onto a new track armed with the effect you want.
 
You should be using inserts for what you are trying to do. Fx tracks are a little different. In the inspector paine (the one on the left side of the screen) there is a tab called inserts. Choose the effect from the drop down list. Now on the audio track, if you expan d the automation lanes, there will be a choice for effect bypass, turn on your read automation button (the green R) and you will be able to edit that lane, it only has two choices (on, off) and you just draw than in like any automation, add points, pull the line up and your done
 
thanks for the advice. I think I'll go wth the suggestion about making another track.
