FW-1804 re-amping anyone?

what is this?
I keep hearing and reading about "re-amping". I understand the idea, but not how to do it with my setup. I am using a PODxT (if it's late and I can't crank my amp, in turn pissing off neighbors :D ) going straight into my FW-1804 to Cubase SL3.0. Generally, I record a track and then re-record with different sounds, as that is the general concensus on the proper way to do things when it comes to adding that little extra something to an instrument's sound in the mix. However, my imagination is getting the best of me and there are so many different things that I have to play around with. So, let the questions begin...

A) Would I have to record the guitar completely dry, without any amp models or effects for the initial track to be re-amped? (How would I do that?)

B) Am I able to send a track out through my FW to my pod, and then back into Cubase again on a seperate track? (How would I do that?)

I think for the Cubase side of things, it's just an RTFM situation, but the manual that came with the FW-1804 doesn't explain exactly how to utilize all the in's and out's enough for me to figure it out.

Any help is appreciated!

why not record it dry and wet onto separate tracks. get a splitter and send the signal both directly to the 1804 and to the 1804 via the POD.

of course, i'm just posing a question. i've never done it myself.

i either record via my amp (Fender hot rod) to an SM57 or via SansAmp classic & FMR RNP and then use software fx... i can do that because i don't play rock.
