Fuzzy Bass in Acid pro 7

Hi All,

I'm new to this home recording lark and I'm having problems recording bass in Acid Pro. I am recording the signal clean and ensuring that it does not clip the master or track monitors but still getting a fuzzy recording.

This means then when I add distortion to the bass signal (using a packaged chain and manually setting the distort settings) the bass sounds terrible. Its scratchy when there is a recorded signal but no playing too so when two recordings are played at the same time in unusable.

Can anyone help!!! Its sending me nuts and hampering the projects development!!!

OK, maybe that wasn't too clear. Basically I need some tips on recording bass so that it does not sound like its peaking when its not so I can then add fx.

what is your signal chain?

Maybe the effect is crappy? Or maybe theres too much noise in your original take, which gets worse when you distort the entire thing. How are you recording?
