Bio qubit computers will revolutionize computing within 15 years. Your processor upgrade may come in a vial in twenty years.
Memory and processing will be indistinguishable, storage will be cellular.
I would hope that by then we'll be up to Star Trek standards...i.e. replication abilities. Holodeck.
The whole bio angle is really cool, except for if you download your head into a machine, and then it gets a virus...what happens then?...you run your head through norton?
I predict that the future of computing will be a hybrid of cellular memory and quantum atom type processors that are grown integrated in a single design.
I believe we have reached the limits of the current hardware in a sense. The real limiting factor is software design. Our hardware is already so mind bogglingly fast the software can't nearly take advantage of the newest designs.
Don't start saving for a quantum computer just yet, were talking 15 to 25 years before it hits the consumer market in any form.
