I've recently come across a few funk licks and fallen in love. I've never listened to the style much, can anyone cite a key funk guitar album or two?

Just looking to learn some fun licks.

a lot of early chili peppers is funk, and so much fun to play..

ANYTHING by Parliment or Funkadelic.

The Commodores Machine Gun is a funky mofo, but the clavinette has more to do with that than the guitar.

How about Tower of Power. You can hear some of their songs that were recorded live on a presonus firepod on the presonus website.

Oooh, good one. What is hip, Don't change horses, that era. Good stuff mang.

Funkiest riff ever written: Stevie Wonder, Superstition(IMO), another clavi riff but SRV tore than motha' up!

If you just start playing some stuff in the minor pentatonic scale you are bound to make up some cool funk riffs.
