I have software and a sound card that should allow me to record a track and then play it back to record a second track but I can’t.
I read that the PC needs “full duplex” capability and you can test this with MS Sound Recorder. My relatively new Dell PC with a SB Audigy 2 ZS sound card failed the test. What to do?

The PC came with Creative recording software for digital recording and I have an old Digital Orchestrator program with the multitrack capability. I can record a single track but I cannot do this over dub type recording which I need to in order to convert from the proprietary format of the DO program into one that the Creative SW can use to make MP3s etc. file formats that can be shared.

full duplex means you can access both the ins and outs simulataneously... lose the sound blatter... avoid gamer sound cards period...

lose th blatter

would a new sound card be the solution then?

it would go a long way to fixing everythin and as a side benift most of them come with some lite version of real software... typically cubase le or protool le... good luck you can do this...
