FT: In NC Only: Hitachi Ultravision 50" Rear Projecting TV

...Have an unique trade propisition..I have a Hitachi 50v500a Flat screen style TV..The picture quality is " ok" as is..If you search you will find this TV has a history of a faulty "light engine" part from the factory..After the light engine is replaced, the picture quality returns to as new status..Mind you, this was a $3500-$5000 TV when new...!..The sound quality is really great..!..Anyway, if someone close to the Raleigh, NC area that has a good Channel strip they may wanna trade for this, give me a PM..
 
How much is the part? How difficult to change it- something that can be a DIY, or would 95% of us here (who are probably more tech savy about that sort of thing than the general population) have to have it done at a shop? "$3500-5000 when new..." how old is your TV? Still sold new in stores?

Hello..I've seen the part go for about $150..I think it's " field fixable"..I'm sure those of you that's handy with soldering irons/multmeter ( I'm not) could fix it..Yep, $3500-$5000 when new..It's from year 98'..No. It's not being sold any longer................Bump....
