OK, everyone I'm in need of cash so as much as I think I'll regret doing it, I'm selling my pristine Tascam 388. The unit is in perfect working condition and the heads look nice with plenty of life left in them. All the VU lights work and I recently had work done on the unit (costing $125.00) which consisted of getting it calibrated to factory specs, and replacing two burnt out VU lights and replacing the original capstan belt and pinch roller. I have seriously babied this unit and it's worked great. It comes with the entire original manual, two take up reels, and three factory sealed reels of Quantegy 456 bought in the last year or so. I've consistently cleaned the heads and tape path with head cleaner and the pinch roller with rubber cleaner. I'm asking $500 for this unit which I think is a great price considering that you can almost never find these in such pristine condition and it comes with all of the mentioned accesories! I can take pictures and e-mail them to anyone who is interested. I won't risk destroying this great mixer/recorder in shipping so this sale is pick-up only. I'm located in Kirksville, MO zip code 63501 in Northeast Missouri and I'd be willing to drive a few hours to meet someone. Please e-mail me at Todd_Baran@hotmail.com with any questions or if you're interested in purchasing this legendary recorder. A search of Tascam 388 on this board will bring up a plethora of threads praising this one of a kind unit. Thanks!

You guys won't find a 388 in better condition so if you've been meaning to pick one up, this is a great opportunity! Make me an offer

Price dropped to $450 and sale will only include 1 reel of Quantegy tape instead of 3. E-mail me at Todd_Baran@hotmail.com if you're interested. You won't find a better deal on a Tascam 388 in this condition! Thanks!

Hey, Taperocket. :)

I'd buy this if I were close and I didn't have one I'm (hopefully) picking up at about the same price about 20 miles away later this week. :)

Everytime I see your post get bumped I feel a little bad for ya. From what I understand its a great machine and a good value! Definately a low-risk, inexpensive way to get into analog. Good luck selling it! Its too bad no one's jumping on it- but my guess is that its because it can't be shipped.

Take care,
Chris

Chris,
I know man, I can't believe no one has snagged it up yet! But its a great unit and I'm keeping faith that it will sell. Thanks for the kind words!
