I purchased mine from a guy in the states off ebay. He had ordered it from toppingstore. I invested more than I should have (before finding out what these were really selling for)... still, it's comparable to an epiphone custom with upgraded pickups for both sound/feel. The open book headstock is just a plus, if you're into that sort of thing.

Thanks for the link, I just sent it to my friend who is a VP at Gibson for their legal team.

I have to say that when these things started hitting the US I had at least 3 brought in to the store I was working in at the time (a real Gibson dealer). They honestly didn't hold a candle to the Epi LP Standards, much less the real USA deal. In fact, the Dean LP styles smashed them playability and sound-wise as well.

What the Chinese don't know is that theyre ruining their manufacturing futures by doing this kind of thing. American companies are seeing the error of their ways and looking to non-chinese alternatives to low cost manufacturing. Those who have not gone into China for manufacturing are likely not to at this point because they see this copying in a wide variety of industries. There are still alot of global options which are not such a risk for manufacturing their protected (except in China) product.

then how much time do you think i've got before they get shut down? i wouldn't mind picking something up with a quilt top and dragon inlay just for decoration in my studio.

well, i started a thread about them in january, it's may now and apparently they just moved their web url. there's also the lack of intellectual property law enforcement in china that allows reverse engineering of things, which is why uli behringer, among other companies, moved production there (plus dirt cheap labor). there have been ebay sellers selling convincing counterfeit sm57's/sm58's out of china for maybe a year or more. guitar center sold of hundreds/thousands of chinese "replicas" of russian oktavas.
i'd say you could take a little time. :D
pick up a knock off of one of 'em steve vai guitars with the handle built in while you're at it!

i bought a prs and an LP custom so i'll let you all know if they're worth a couple hundred bucks or not.

Plus shipping of $110 each....

Doesn't seem like they combine on shipping. Bummer.

Hate to throw money at unethical practices, but it's so tempting.

Maybe the title of this thread should be changed. I don't think the guitar for sale should really be considered a Les Paul Custom. Kind of misleading.

RightOnMusic I would be VERY interested in hearing how the shipping/packagin was and how the guitar looks, feels and plays.

Mike

yeah i'll let you know. the woman there said it will ship 2-3 days from now and it will tke 5-7 days to get to new york.

the guitars arrived in new york today, so i should have them soon. i'm definitely hoping these are playable...

me too .......... I'll definitely get a couple if they're any good.

we'll find out soon enough. i'm sure i'll have to put new pickups in them. i can't imagine the korean pickups will sound any good..

item 0625 (Les Paul Custom) is great! there are some little things that indicate that it's not a real les paul like the fact that the binding on the neck doesnt cover the fret edges, but it plays well, and the pickups dont sound half bad. played it through a laney and a mesa boogie and they scream. doesn't need much setup either, the neck is straight and the intonation is perfect. i'm pretty effin happy.
