The other night my desktop froze up and the now it won't boot up (or at least, it wouldn't last time I checked). I'm not really sure what's wrong with it, but I've decided I don't want to deal with repairing and upgrading it anymore, so I'm selling it and switching to my laptop. Having said all that, I'm not really sure what's wrong with the desktop. I just upgraded the case, power supply, and motherboard. The motherboard has a nifty little display on it that's supposed to help figure out what's wrong, but right now it just shows "FF", which just means it's booting. Powers up, but doesn't load into the BIOS or anything. This happened before I upgraded everything and I'm just sick of trying to fix things all the time. It's a really nice system, you'd just have to figure out what's wrong with it. It's probably not even anything all that major.

Athlon 64 X2 ~2.4 Ghz dual-core processor (socket 939)
About 1.75 GB of RAM (at least 1.5, anyway)
Kingwin 450w PSU
Jetway mobo (939GT4 series)
ATI Radeon Connect3D graphics card (at least 256 RAM with dual-monitor support - PCIe)
Belkin pre-N wireless card
Firewire PCI card (VIA chipset)
Front USB ports (2)
Samsung DVD writer (not sure on the specs, but I can try to find out)
80 GB hard drive (7200 rpm)

I'm also willing to sell it as parts, but I'd like to see if I get offers on the whole system first. For the whole system, I'd like $250. That includes a Logitech keyboard and Windows XP with SP2. No mouse or monitor. If no one wants the whole system, then we can break it down. At that point, I might also start putting it up on eBay, but I'd like to try to take care of it here.

I've got a bunch of other parts lying around, too, if anyone wants me to look and see what I have. I know I have another motherboard (an ASUS socket 939), a CD burner, and a case, but I'm not sure what else.

As I've said, a lot of the stuff in the computer is fairly new. The three upgrades I did can't have been more than a couple months ago (actually, I got the firewire card at the same time and the wireless about a month ago). I have a replacement plan on the motherboard, too, so if that does turn out to be the problem, we can work something out to get it replaced (I imagine it's a non-transferrable plan).

If you want more details, I will be more than happy to provide them.

EDIT: Forgot about shipping. I'd prefer to ship to the US, but we can negotiate if you want it sent elsewhere (I just don't like dealing with all the paperwork - you'll have to make it very clear to me which part of your address is the city, etc). I'll figure out the shipping costs later, depending on whether it's sold as one unit or several.

Shipping to the lower 48 looks to be about $25 whichever way you do it (UPS or USPS).
 
The exact model of the motherboard is J939GT4-SLI-G. I tried booting it up again this morning to see how much RAM it has and now I'm getting a new error code: "C3", which means Extend Memory DRAM Select. The manual has more about that, but I don't know exactly what to do about it.

The graphics card is an X1300.

There are four sticks of RAM in the computer. Two 512 sticks, a 256 stick, and one that doesn't tell me what it is (unless I could turn the computer on). Having used the computer before, I'm about 90% positive the last one is another 512 stick, but it is at least a 256 stick, which means there is between 1.5 and 1.75 GB of RAM in the computer. (sorry I can't be more specific, I'm doing my best)

This is the case. It doesn't have a little speaker thing in it, so it won't beep when you boot it up. It didn't come with one.

The processor is an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+. As I said before, it runs at about 2.4 Ghz. It has a giant heatsink/fan, so I wouldn't worry too much about it overheating.

I think I forgot to mention this before, but I'm also including all the original manuals and installation CDs.
 
It's giving me a new debug code now: C1, which the manual says means "Memory Presense". I think that just means it's detecting that there is RAM in the system.

I have the motherboard I used to use in this system. I don't really want to take it apart and test it, but I'd be willing to send that motherboard along in addition to everything in this package at no extra charge. I replaced it when I was trying to figure out why it wouldn't start up before, but I didn't really know what the problem with it was and I can't imagine both motherboards are bad, so one of them ought to work. And, as I said, if it is the motherboard, I'd be willing to work out a deal to get it replaced. I have a two-year replacement plan on it, so you'd really just have to pay the shipping costs.

This is a pretty good deal in my opinion, and I won't be offering all these concessions if I have to go to eBay. I'm willing to negotiate the price a bit... I mostly just want to get rid of it, but I don't want to be ripped off, either.
 
Ok, at this point I'm definitely willing to sell it as parts. I'm also willing to accept trades. I don't have any particular equipment in mind, but probably more along the lines of mics or outboard gear. As for prices for individual components... make me an offer, I don't really have any set ideas. Like I said before, I also have an ASUS socket 939 board that I'm pretty sure works, so that's up for offers, too.

I'm trying to figure out what exactly the problem with the computer is, so you can still opt to buy it whole. I'm lowering that price to $220 (or trade offers). The problem is obviously not the case, the RAM should still be fine, the video card is fine, the hard drive and optical drive are fine, and the power supply should be fine. In fact, I'm guessing everything is fine, I probably just need to reset something somewhere...
 
just thought I'd put my two cent in. Typically if you can't do a thing (not even bios) you either have a memory problem or video card. But since you do have some sign of life with text.. it may be memory.
 
If by memory you mean RAM, then no. I removed all the RAM and tried booting it up (which, unless I'm mistaken, should at least get me to the BIOS screen), but still no dice. I think it's stalling somewhere in the boot sequence for some reason.

Workin' on it... I've got a friend who's good at this stuff, so I'll try to get him to help. Or else just sell it to him, because he could probably make it work...
 
Except it gave me the same error with or without it. So that seems to indicate to me that it isn't the RAM.
 
Ok, update: experimented with different RAM configurations and figured out that the motherboard just isn't reading RAM properly from two of the slots. So right now, it is a fully-functional computer, but the amount of RAM is down to 1 GB. I can include the other sticks, however, and in the event that the motherboard has malfunctioned, I still have the replacement plan, so we can work that out.

I will leave the price at $220, but I can also include the ASUS motherboard for an extra $20 (which might be cheaper than doing the replacement plan anyway). If you want me to install everything onto the ASUS motherboard, I can do that, too, but it's kind of a pain, so I'd add a bit to the cost for labor. If you choose that option, though, I wouldn't include the motherboard that's currently in there (I'll test the ASUS configuration to make sure it all works first, of course). Or you can have the current one and the ASUS installed for a little extra. I'm flexible.
