Fruityloops acting up on me...

I'm running a 1 GHz Athlon machine, 256 ram, AGP video card, WIN 95 and I have never really gotten the Fruityloops demo to run stable. It often gives me a general protection fault on closing the program, and my whole system is a little shaky after I run it. Every once in a while I get the blue screen of death.

I can't get into any of the online support since I'm only using the demo, anyone have any tips or suggestions? I don't know why they don't allow people to get into the tech support before they buy the full version, why would I buy it if I can't get it to run?

I'm also running n-track which runs fine on it's own (except when I download sketchy plug-ins).

Anybody else have the same problems running fruity?

i have had funky things happen with earlier versions of fruityloops like the samples popping and getting errors like that but this was with windows xp running fruityloops 1.7 or something old. I downloaded 3.4 and it runs fine. Do you have alot of applications loading in the system tray when you boot up (check by the clock at the bottom for a whole lot of icons), if so you may want to try cleaning house a bit. My cousin has a 1ghz athlon that he bought from a store and they love to load it up with garbage. You can go to the start menu (assuming you are using windows of course :) ), go to start/run and type in "msconfig" (if you are running 98se or winxp this will definitely work..i don't believe it is in 2000) you will get a window with many startup options. The last tab on that window will be something like startup options, don't remember exactly...but there it will show all of the programs loading up at startup..you can just go through and uncheck all the ones you don't need..(you will want to keep systray and any virus scan software if you have it)..and just try..that might make the computer run faster all around.

I hate to be a prick, but you might want to consider not running Windows 95!

I had a problem with the same video card, believe it or not. Most of the time, it was when I had the piano roll open. I don't know where I got the tip but it worked. Turn the accelleration on your graphics card down, this seemed to stop all my probs. Hope this helps.

Ha :D . Any specific reason or just because it is old? Frankly I have no reason to drop the money or take the effort to upgrade. I'll wait until I have a compatibility issue, but so far everything still supports Win95. Plus I have everything optimized how I like it and have it running pretty damn thin.

Now, Joe Dirt had the type of tip I was looking for. I had a hunch it might be graphics related (I think I remember an error message that dealt with glide). Thanks

Tell me again - how did FruityLoops work?

Again, unless you can give me a specific reason why Win95 is inherently the issue....
