Hi everyone,

Well, I'm new in this forum and doesn't know how it works exactly but whatever. I'm beginning on fruity loops and I've got a problem. Each time I change something in a pattern, it change it automatically in all the other ones so I can't make beats cause if I "mute" a sampler, it does the same things to the other samplers in the other patterns. Am I clear or not ? It will be great if someone could answer my beginner question. Sorry for the bad English, it's not my first language.

Yeah. It's me again.

I'll be more specific cause my first post was a crappy definition of my problem. Well, I'll try to be.

In Fruity Loops, to do a song, it works with patterns. They are all divided and do not have anything in common, BUT my problem is that they seemed to be all related and don't have to be. When I change something in, example, my first pattern, well, it will to the exact same thing in the second one. It's like repeating the same beat in every pattern so I can't make different beat. It's been a month that I'm using FL and before, tonight all was going perfectly.

Sorry to write a second definition of my problem. If someone could help me, it would be soooooooooo great.

Thank you in advance

Hi :)
You are still not making a lot of sense :p ..but....the patterns are related in that the channels that hold the samples are the same, if you mute the kick you mute it for all patterns with that kick. As for making different beats, well arranging the different patterns in the arrange window and playing from playlist not from pattern is the answer. Have you posted on the FLstudio forum ?

just use next pattern!:p I keep all instruments on separate patterns. For example kick on pattern 1, variation of kick on pattern 2, clap on pattern three and so on. Little pic to illustrate:

lol sorry I will RExplain my problem with an example. When I use Sytrus (Sort of a synthetizer) with the preset keys in my first pattern, well, if I use Sytrus again in my second pattern, it will automatically put it in the same preset as the first one( Keys for this case). I can't use Sytrus to do other preset cause when I change my preset in a pattern, it will do the exact same thing in my first pattern. I'm sort of a dick in english, sorry guys loll

@CFox No I didn't go on FL forum.

I even uninstall and clear all the thing that could be related to FL and it do the same thing.

if you want new instrument then just add new channel. Channels->Add one...->select your synth.

Yes, thats because as I stated above, the channels carry over. What ever you do to an instrument channel in one pattern, you do to the instrument in all other patterns because it is the same instrument channel and it makes perfect sense....

Just say you make a bass line for the verse and then one for the chorus, you dont like the tone of the bass so you change it - the changes now affect the verse and chorus for that SAME channel instrument. If you dont want the change, add another instrument channel as suggested above. :)

Rename them so you dont get confused ;)

The pattern editor triggers instruments ( soft synths ) and samples, each channel corresponds in the next pattern you create, its not like a brand new set of channels is created when you scroll through patterns.

Thanks to all of you the "problem" (cause it wasn't a real problem) is now solved

how can i get to this... i can not find it

Thats the playlist. Find it in View menu or just press F5 on keyboard;)

FL is a cool program but too damn hard to figure out imo.

It's actually pretty simple.
1) load in samples, loops, VST plugins
2) make your rythms and melodyes in step sequencer to different patterns
3) open up playlist and put you song together
4) send your instruments to mixer channels to add some effects and then mix it.

you could watch some tutorials on Youtube to get started.

Click on the button above, rename the pattern below to what ever you want it to be. The patter will have all the tracks like listed on the right, You would only play the kick drum, the rest of the tracks will be there but only the kick drum plays.
