The majority of my recording consists of voice and acoustic guitar but eventually I would like to try and add some drums and bass. I can play the drums a little but I don't see myself acquiring a set in the near future so I plan to use a software based drum machine. I have played around with the demo of Fruity Loops and I find it pretty easy to use. However, as some others have noted, the samples that come with it are pretty useless. I have searched for acceptable samples and found some that weren't bad but still not as good as I would like. Then I recently saw an article on a webpage about Clavia offering downloadable samples for their ddrum kit. I checked out the page and downloaded some samples and was very pleased with the quality. The only problem is I don't know about how to get them into Fruity Loops. The samples are midi files which contain a sequence from a particular drum. I figure that I can use their ddrum4tool and play the drums and record the sounds in cakewalk. Then I can edit it so that it is just a single beat of the drum and input that into fruity loops. I'm not quite sure how to go about doing that or if that is the best way to go about it. Should I run a cable from my soundcard's output to the input and record that way or is their a way to set the card's output as my input in cakewalk and not use a cable at all? If anyone has any ideas or suggestions I'd love to hear them. Better yet, if anyone likes the samples and wants to do this work themselves and then send them to me that would be great
. Also if there are any better samples out there that are cheap (i.e. free), I'd love to get ahold of them.
