Fruity loops into editable parts in Sonar

I've seen this somewhat addressed here, but as a complete newbie, I still have to ask in a way I know...so...

How do you take a bedtrack (drums and bass) created initially in Fruity Loops 3.56, and import that into an editable midi track in Sonar 2.2XL? It seems pretty useless bringing audio/wav files in for bedtracks at the song-building stage of the game...

When I export the FL file into midi, and open in Sonar, Sonar doesn't do anything. In sonar Help menu, it says to select all, then copy etc., but once I've selected, there's nothing to copy, i.e., there's no data there???

Please help, there's bananas and stuff at stake:D

Shawn:)

I've had no luck with FLs MIDI export in the 2.xx versions...

It's easiest to export the loops as wav's and import them in Sonar. :)

So you mean...instead of exporting the whole thing as a playlist wav, export the patterns themselves individually? At least then you're only stuck with the mix and instrumentation, not the arrangement...good idea! You can always keep it open that way, if you add a part or change an instrument or mix something differently, you're just re-dumping those pattern wav's/measures from FL into Sonar, right?

Thanks moskus:)

Bingo! :)

But if you have VST-to-DXi wrapper (such as the one from fxPansion), you can use FL directly in Sonar...

Ya I saw that in your other post on this, went to the site. What the heck is it? :S LOL :D:(:(

No idea where to even begin...

Download the demo and test it! It's great! :)

I just tried, near as I can tell, they've pulled it from the web?

Since this is gone (seems Cakewalk bought it?) could you give me a few other similar items to look for...hopefully free for a reduced version...?

I'd be mucho indeb-it-ed:D

It doesen't say if it supports VSTi's.

You need an VSTi-to-DXi wrapper...

You were right, of course.

BUT...FL has a VSTi-DXi wrapper...could I go about this in reverse, i.e., is there some way I can bring Sonar XL2.2 into Fruity Loops? I've already been able to bring in the ReValver and stuff, but what about the whole she-bang?

Shawn:)

Sonar won't appear as a DXi. Sonar uses DXi's... ;)

Hey I know I'm retarded LOL but it was worth asking

:S

he he...

Just wait. FL-Studio 4.0 will appear in Sonar as a DXi! :)

Another great VST wrapper is called DirectiXer (don't remember the vendor, look it up in a search engine)

That looks like it will do the trick...says it does VST instruments and DXi...so...will download the shareware 30-dayer when I get home. Thanks very much:)

Shawn

But remember that the fxpansion-wrapper will soon be the Cakewalk-wrapper. Support Cakewalk! :D

I know--May release:(:(:(

So...I'll D/L this 30 day freebee, they lock myself in a padded cell for 2 weeks in April:)
