this is probably very easy but I am having a problem. I plug my computer into my soundcard and get a perfect read into fruity loops. I press the button, the sound comes out that I have chosen. Thats all good. The problem I have is recording in the piano roll. I press the record button then start playing in the piano roll, the problem is the actual recording does not show in the piano roll, instead it shows on the default midi blocks. How do I get it to record in the piano roll. And also. Making hip hop beats aint a problem for me, but some seem so complex. How do I create a drum roll effect and so on from scratch? is it easier than I think or must I stack many 1/8th notes over and over to make it sound like that. Would a drum pad machine make it easier?

some sample librarys have snare rolls so you dont get unnatural sounds by using the regular one hit snare samples. but ya basically its just writing alot of quick notes in a row. you can get some very good sounds out of fruity loops. i use it for real drums, so i dont know how much i can say about hip hop beats.

as for the piano roll question, i dont quite get what you mean. after you record something and right click on the track and select piano roll, if theres nothing there then you havent recorded anything. and what exactly do you mean by midi blocks? like the step sequencer blocks?
