fruity loops as a vst wrapper

i've been trying to use softsynths with cakewalk 9 without much success, but i can use vst instruments (and soundfonts) with fruity loops. maybe it would be a good idea to do my midi sequencing within fruity loops and then exporting it to cakewalk, instead of buying another software (fxpansion). has anyone had success doing this? what are the pitfalls? to make things easier maybe you can mixdown your cakewalk audio tracks, import them into fruity loops and do the sequencing that way.
another question i have is, since i already have hubis installed, can i route an output from the midi sequences in cakewalk to fruity loops with the softsynths loaded and back? or maybe i should just save the midi sequences on cakewalk, import them into fruity loops, load the softsynth and export it to cakewalk as .wav?
i'd really like to hear somebody else's take on this.
or maybe i should just get n-track and use the vst instruments with that...

i tried fxpansion and directxier and they both work fine with sonar. not sure if that's an option but it might save a lot of headache.

two things i just found out. i can't load the soundfonts on fruity loops. i mean, i suppose i can, but i don't know how.
another problem is i have two soundcards on my computer, one is a sblive! value, and the other one is an aardvark 2496. i can't play the softsynths on fruity loops with the sblive. but when i play the softsynths with the 2496, the rest of the fruity loops sounds sound like crap, and there's some stuttering.
erichenryus,
i just caved in and download fxpansion, but it didn't solve my problem. i can load the vst instruments on cakewalk, but i can't hear them. shit. i tried placing a bit of audio in the beginning and the end of the track, but it didn't work.:(
