After I get all my tracks down, what is the best route for mixdown and finally to mp3 or cd form? I have a KORG 8-track digital recorder and have been simply running it into the line in on my soundblaster card . . . is there a way for me to stay digital and keep the quality up? The mix sounds great on the recorder, but volume levels and general sound quality seem to nose dive when I go to the computer? Suggestions??? Comments??? Ridicule???

This is my first question here, so go easy on me, i'm an amature.

Get yourself a reasonably priced M-audio audiophile PCI card{put in place of your SB} and you can use the spdif ports for digital transfer. You can probably get one off ebay for around $100

sblive platinum

if you have the sblive with the livedrive it has an spdif and optical input already on it. you can buy the livedrive for probably about 50 bucks nowadays..which obviously won't be as good as a card dedicated to audio recording but also won't be as expensive :) You get a 1/4" input with a gain knob, 1/4" headphone jack with a gain knob, rca in, spdif, midi & optical.
