Hi Gordo,

How'za goin' ???

I'll download the zip archive and give it a go in the next coming days.

Do you have a deadline for that project?

Cheers.

That is an excellent mix mate. I love what you've done with the vocals...the way you've re-pitched them in the 'downgraded, relagated' bits etc.
Would love to know what you used for this ?

Also, that guitar solo is brilliant. It's a shame you didn't join in with this thread when we were still putting it together in the songwriting forum. We were desperate for some good guitaring but no-one offered it.

A quality mix dude...

Mart.

Thanks for the praise. I used melodyne for the vocal pitch correction. I'd love to hear any constrcutive criticism or notes on things you might like different from any of the contributers. I'm consdering remxing the piano a bit too so maybe I'll post a new version tonght or tomorrow.

After a third listen I think I'll retrack the guitar solo too. (it's the perfectionist in me) Probably won't do that until tomorrow though. By the evening I should be able to post an updated version. Can't wait to hear more peoples mixes!

oh yeah...thats a really nice mix Guitar486
Nice guitar too
I dont have the tools you have but plan to take heed from mixers here and stock up.

I actually did my first mix, I ditched the digital drums for better groove and I will record my guitar again at some point.

Heres my cybergord mix so far

Sea Eagle...there's no deadline and not really a contest either. Enjoy.
Just want make this special.

hey thats really good....cool guitar solo too.
Something happening with the vocals a lot of sqeezing going on!

I need to adjust the compression on the main bus, its pumping a little bit. That's probably what you're talking about. Nothing has changed with the vocals except the slight volume increase between the two mixes though. Another version will likely come tomorrow with smoother compression.

Edit: I'm not hearing this "vocal squeezing," care to elaborate on what you mean?

There's a big difference between these last 2 mixes....
one is kinda peaceful and the other is very intense.
I love it.
Still......I'm working on some new touches as well.

I got bored tonight so I made another mix.

I didn't get sleep and while browsing throught my old favourites folder I remebered this forum and decided to visit here. Its been way too long since I've posted something here =)

So... I happened to see this thread and whanot, had to give it a shot!

Mixed on headphones (at night, you know), so it might be a bit not-so-optimal on monitors, have to check it out tomorrow. Work done in ITB, only free plugins on this one, DAW is Reaper. I'll most likely post another (fixed, tweaked and balanced) version tomorrow or in near futre if/when I have some extra time and I'm able to check it out throught monitors =)

P.S. You will get a really nice song out from it if you retrack the toms and vocals. Rest is solid =)

Checked it out with speakers and did some minor tweaking, updated the file in FTP server too.

Seems like I'm bit too late for this thread.

Oh well, I had fun doing it at least hehe.

Wouldn't mind some comments on it thought :D

Oh well.. guess no one is interested in it. I'll keep the file on FTP for some in case someone/OP checks it out eventually heh.

Too bad :(

Very welll done Kainz....nice atmosphere.
Welcome back to HR
Is it me or do I detect some background hiss?
Many thanks for your efforts, I for one appreciate it very much.
Cheers.

Whee, a reply :p

You mean the noise at the beginning? When the guitar is solo? Or overall background noise? I can't hear any background noise nor should there be any effects wich could cause it, hmh.. well I'll check it out later - if nothing else but just out of curiousity.

On the other hand, if you mean the noise at the beginning when the guitar is solo: It is your guitar track wich is, frankly, rather badly recorded :o. When you boost the highs in it the noise shows its ugly face. I tried to edit it away (eg. cut out everything else except the parts where the guitar is playing), but it really didn't work - it sounded too unconsistent and "chopped out". So I ended up only expanding the track instead of gating. When other instruments are playing this isn't any issue and I did gate it.

EDIT: With what are you listening it btw? Just figured out that on some systems that "ooh-aah synth" might be reproducing somewhat hissy (if speakers/phones can't reproduce high-end well enough). I did push it up to float rather up in spectrum, maby bit too high for "normal" boombox/carstereo. Just out of curiousity, have to check it in my car sooner or later. I have only listened it on my AKG702 and Dynaudio BM6A, can't spot any hiss with those (excluding the guitar hiss at the beginning).

EDIT 2: I did tweak the mix a bit, got rid of that annoying mid tone bump (might have gone bit too far with it though heh) and balanced out the high-end energy to sit bit more lower.

Feel free to listen it out. Do you still hear the hiss?
