My very unfinished project I made this night. If you wonder why the drums sounds funny it`s because I played with my hands. (night time so..) :S

Anyway here it is, hope you like it and have some great opinions to share!

PS: The small opinions are also most welcome! :)

It has great potential to me. The groove is not tight enough to match the quality of the song and vocal. The bass and drums I think. Bass needs less bottom, really booming on my system. I really like the vocal, song and melodies, especially the chorus. Would you mind sharing your Mic, preamp, and interface? The vocal and vocal sound are really nice, deserves better acompanyment. Should be easier to improve that than learn how to sing LOL.

I like the song (Friend 2) But your bass is a little too loud. And I love bass driven songs, but you need to bring the bass down a little. It is dominating some of the other parts altogether. I think, bring the bass down a bit and bring the drums up a little and this ain't too bad.

I like the hell out of the song.

Hi PDP, and thanks for your comment. Did you listen to friend or friend2?

First of all I need to get a drummer here, and a guitarist and a bassplayer.. =)

For the vocals I use rode NTK. On a digi002rack. I have no preamp though. Just the bombfactory compressor plugin and CSR Hall from ikmultimedia.

For drums I use the NT3s as overhead a SM94 on the snare (I know it`s kinda strange but I think it works well for me) and the beta52 on the kick. The overhead pic up pretty much of the toms but I am considering buying more mics. Not shure if it`s nessecary though.

Trumpino: Thank you very much for the comment. I will try to do as you said.. :)

EDIT: I`ve updated Friend2, the drums should be louder and the bass a bit lower.

I listened to Friend2, yeah I see you said it was real rough, post it again after it has the instruments together, good work.

Very good song and voice.
The performance could be tighter though. Snare sounds very loose and thin to me but maybe that's the way you like it. Keep working on it, the song deserves it.;)

Thanks, Im not shure if I can do it much better but if or when I`ll post it here.

=)

I liked the singer's voice. Very expressive without over-doing it.

The drums, to me, are a little too wimpy. Maybe try turning up the snare. Might help a bit.

Lot's of timing issues with the guitars. They started to groove a little bit better later in the song. The guitar is a bit indistinct and gets lost in the mix when the strings and keys come in.

I liked the long fade at the end.

Hi, TripleM.

Good comment. The singer is me, I`m also the lowsy drummer, guitarist and bassist etc. I will try to record the drums again later. I guess the snare needs a bit more low frequencies as well. To get that punch.

There are two guitars playing different things and both are a bit out of rythm so.. anyway I will try the things you told me later on.

Thank you. =)

Listened to friend2. Nothing to add but just wanted to chime in on how i like the vocal work and arrangement... the song has "The Shins" feel to it.
