Can someone send me frequency of cymbal and drum flams. I am home editing my music and one track has extremely hard and loud hits on drums and cymbals. Can I dampen them on equalizer and what is frequency to dampen? THANKX

why not just use a compressor? it will definitely dampen the loud and hard spikes. If that wouldn't work, try using a parametric eq and experiment.

Is this a separate drum track? If so, you could use ReCycle to chop it up and adjust the levels of the hits individually. Come to think of it, depending on the source material, even if this is an entire mix you could still chop it up and adjust the levels and just replace the offending parts. If you really want to use EQ, then you could find the offending frequency rather easily with a parametric EQ. First lower your monitor levels to protect them and your ears. Then set the gain on Hi-Mid band to unity and adjust the Q to the narrowest setting. Now, crank up the gain, and sweep the band. You might want to loop the offending section while you're doing this. On those hits once you hit the offending frequency it will resonate. You won't miss it, it will sound pretty nasty. Now, cut at that frequency. You might also need to play with the Q to find the optimal setting.

Good luck
