Freezing Issue

I was recording some drums with an alesis firewire mixer, and when I was done, I saved the project with all the tracks armed. Now when i load the project when i try to disarm the tracks not only the whole project freezes, but my entire computer lags all crazy like. might it be becuase i'm mixing with a different soundcard now? i was using the multimix as the soundcard, and now im using another external - a toneport. never had any issues like that before with reaper or any otehr program i used like acid, so I dont think it's the toneport. any suggestions?

if you haven't tried this...

- Set it back up the way it was (with the Alesis as the sound card). Go into the project, and un-arm those tracks.

- change the source for those tracks. Set it to the onboard card or whatever.

- Close reaper.

- Make changes to the computer system you want (set toneport or whatever as your main sound device)

- Re-boot the computer.

- Go into Reaper and try again.

If that doesn't work.. well.. umm sorry that's my best shot.

yeah that pretty much worked - i also realized that having the gearbox program running while that program is opening and then starts recieving signal becuase the tracks default to the first out on the toneport makes it go strange too.
