lately ive not been satisfied with neither the plugins at hand, nor the handfull of freeware verbs i have, in logic express. does anyone know of any free, good quality, au plugins that you would recommend?

thanks,

Nope.. but anything that i have seen or heard doesn't beat a good piece of outboard gear like a Lexicon... verbs are rarely talked about it seems on here.. they can make a huge impact on the depth of any song but it seems to be ignored... ?

yeah i was thinking about investing in some outboard but then thinking it would be nice if i could have more post tracking control. oh well ill check out my options both ways.

Do a search for SIR which is an excellent impulse-based reverb. Then go to Noisevault to download some impulse files.

I share your pain but it has to be done in software if you want to retain flexibility!!

I'll second the SIR convilution reverb. Only picked up on it a few weeks ago and have totaly neglected my outboard verbs since.

I agree with you bout' the lexicon, AWESOME piece of equip. IMO. :D I also use a Quadraverb which I still think has really good sounding effects. Too bad they discontinued it. Anybody know why?

Another vote for SIR, it's pretty CPU intensive (all convolution reverbs are really) and there's a fixed delay, but it sounds awesome with some of the impulses available at noisevault. It's VST only though, so you might need a wrapper for AU.

Using it as an insert beats the delay trap

not sure if SIR is available as an AU plugin though... check at www.kvraudio.com and look for reverb and AU in the effects search - that should give you the most complete list of effects available for the Mac. google is also your friend.

I will second Ambiance. It is my main reverb now. It is a great sounding reverb, and pretty straight forward to work with. It has a "Mac" version.
