Just got my license email through from Waves (incidentally at the same time as a license I bought through Waves Universe - guess the system problems got fixed). Time to crank the volume...

just installing mine. i'll let you know how it goes

Ok, installed but only works in mono. i'm gonna play around but i fear this may be why it's free.....

  1. Access your Waves account. (Don’t have an account? Click here).
  2. Click Register Products > Register New Product on the main menu.
  3. Enter the serial number. (Where is my Serial Number?).
  4. Click Submit.
  5. Download and install your bundles or plugins.
During the installation, select only the bundles / plugins you wish to install and for which you have licenses.
  6. Launch Waves License Center.
On Windows, via the desktop shortcut or Start Menu > Programs > Waves.
On Mac, via the dock icon, or the following path: HD > Applications > Waves > Applications > WLC.
  7. If you wish to activate Waves on a USB flash drive, connect it now.
For both OS X and Windows compatibility, your USB flash drive must be FAT32-formatted. For more information, click here.
  8. Log into Waves License Center using your Waves account information.
  9. Your license will be waiting for you on your License Cloud.
  10. Under Select Licenses, choose your license/s.
  11. Under Select Destination, choose your computer or USB flash drive.
  12. Click Send Licenses.
Your Waves product is now installed and activated.

erm no thanks i`ll pass ..glad i used a throw away email :)

Yeah, it was pain in the arse to install for a free plugin and i still can't figure out how to get it to work in stereo. At a quick play though it seems pretty cool. I like super simple things and on a clean DI's bass track it's help tame the peaks and fill out the sound a bit at the same time. Also tried it on drum OH's just to play around with and it bought the cymbals out nicely. For free i can't complain (well, apart from the 20 minute to install thing!)

As my studio computer is never online, the install has been several hours of messing around so far, so far I have the License centre on my internet lap top and have downloaded the offline installer, about 45 mins to download, I have not yet put this in my studio computer so I am asking if it's worth it?

Alan.

I got my serial number email. Fuck that. I'm not jumping through all those hoops.

I'm gonna play around with it a bit more this week but as i still can't figure out how to get it to work on a stereo track, and after a bit of messing around with it tonight, i'm not sure how much use it'll get. So far it hasn't been worth the hassle (and it has been a hassle!)

Haha it's a lot easier to install if you've already got other waves stuff...no registration crap and all that :)

There is a reason I don't use the one waves plugin I have (some sort of mediocre channel strip, in fact I'm not sure if I even have it installed anymore). The whole wavshell thing is stupid, their upgrade process is stupid, their install method is stupid and their extra insurance beyond what ilok offers is stupid (although aren't they going to a cloud based thing which is even more crappy?).

Basically I can't stand how this company works.
