Scott, Ill be anxiously waiting for the tutorial as well as Sonar 3. Hey , since your connected to the cakewalk folks, maybe you could whisper in their ear about adding the tools for the audio editing you mentioned above, which will make LOOP CREation, more user friendly. That would be a big incentive to upgrade.

Id also like to thank you for the sonar power books you authored.
They are as helpful as JaYMZ ARGO is :D LOL
You guys should think about a collaboration:D

Can you give us any info on what future Sonar releases MAY include?

Update, over 14,001 readers :D

Peace
Bill

It may include a plugin that search for alternative fuel, but we're not sure about that one... :D

Seriously, I don't know. But I hope they give the console view a little spitshine. Then you would all see how cool it is... ;)

Wow! For $30, this tutorial will save newbies WEEKS or MONTHS of learning curve. I will probably buy it (being a noob).

EXCELLENT!!! Then you can save me $30 and teach me all the cool stuff you learned when we have our next recording session.

Can't wait! :p :D

Well, I typed a very big long review of the program, which I received today. I went to submit it and the whole thing went blanK!!!

Im not going to type it all over again. In short
IMHO this is a must have for any Newbie as well as a should have for most experienced users. Ive learned at least a dozen new features tricks and tips already and Im only half way through it.
I thought I was pretty Sonar savy but I guess I was missing a bunch of cool stuff.

Peace
Bill

Have you used the "Sonar Power"-books and if you have, how does it compare to that?

Moskus: Yes Ive used the sonar power books but I didnt get as much in such a short time out of them. A picture is worth 1000 words.:D

Bill

Oh... I've read Sonar 1 Power and Sonar 2 Power in the hope that they would learn me any new tricks, but no...

So you're saying that these tutorials do just that? Can you give an example?

Don't forget SOS !

Guys, please don't forget great Sonar Notes monthly in SOS magazine by Craig Anderton,
besides earlier than february 2003 are freely available online at www.sospubs.co.uk
Yes, SOS is my favourite magazine, surely the BEST!!!

The problem about the SOS homepage though, is that you need to search for all the articles. You can't just browse through them...

Well, I got my Sonor 2 XL software yesterday and having gone through that demo site and the program's tutorials, I was able to get to hands-on recording rather quickly! I have been messing with some "test" songs.

Outstanding software...I am very pleased!

Moskus, You asked what types of things I learned for example.

Heres a few:
Better use and understanding of groove clips
pitch shifting the same clip for instance.

Adding a wav file using the little camera looking window, I think that was the Icon anyway. Im going to have to review it.

Aux buss usage: I did not use the aux bus abilities properly before. I also found out what applying parallel effects is.
also applying effects to a bus.

How and why to Use the destructive audio file saving for effect abilities to save cpu usage.

These are things I either did not use or was not using properly before.

Theres a bunch more but they are not coming to mind right now.

Duh, maybe thats why this is helpful, because I forget things I read, until I do them. watching this is almost like doing them but Ive gotta apply them myself to remember it.

Probably theres not much thats not covered in Sonar power but seeing it applied makes things make sense.

Peace
Bill

Okay! Seems fair! But I allready know how to do that, I don't think I'll shell out the $30. The demo on the net seemed pretty basic.

No offence, though! ;)

None taken!

I am not selling Em

Just being helpful and sharing.

I figured if he can get $30 on ebay for them I can get $25 once Ive been through it.

A $5 hit aint so bad for all you get out of it. :D

I have no idea what shipping would be to europe for you Moskus

I'm guessing not cheap! ;)

And the toll in Norway isn't the lowest in the world either...

Well, I guess if your a registered Sonar owner ,you also got this email as I did which included a link to cakewalk (which I usually ignore) which lists this tutorial I started the thread with.

So maybe cakewalk is coming around, finally! Recognizing that good learning tools are desired and needed, this may be the first step in them actually developing one with Sonar 3!
.
heres what the email said;;;

SONAR—Swift & Deep tutorial

We have just learned about a comprehensive CD-ROM tutorial that is designed for both beginners and experienced musicians. This course contains more than 70 minutes of screen videos as well as sample projects to help you learn all aspects of audio and MIDI recording, editing, and mixing using SONAR. The tutorial has nine modules—three devoted to setting up and customizing SONAR, another three which focus on MIDI recording and editing, and a final three which cover audio recording, editing and mixing—including loop construction. The tutorial is available for $29.95 at the Digital Music Doctor website.

I was registering my Cakewalk with my other Email address (not my regular - to prevent spam), so I checked it there... Gee, so many Email they sent me I never opened :D

Yeah It will be cool if they finally recognize that a comprehensive tutorial will be better for everyone with Sonar 3!

Peace
