Free NICE online Sonar Tutorial>>>for now

I found a site selling a pretty nice Sonar Tutorial. It has what It labeled as limited demos of the product cd,,, however It looks like its all working to me. There may be more in depth info on the tutorial CD but this is a BUNCH for FREE. I saved the link to work offline Myself and enabled 1 level of depth. This way it wont revert to only a few catagories working! I think! heres a link Give it a try:D :D :D

No, serioulsy. I have looked all over the web for simple tutorials for Sonar, and found that this BBS is the best page for info. :)
 
I subscribe to Computer Music (don't ask me why), and even as they're at Tutorial nr 15 in the mag, it's quite basic... But it might help some people.

I asked the guy selling if the cd tutorial what, if any, more depth the Cd goes into and he replied that the CD incudes NINE,8 minute presentations. From the quality of what Ive already seen this may have some more great information that Im not aware of.
I already picked up on several things just by watching whats posted in the demo.
Ill probably get a CD from him since they are only $29. If I learn a few more shortcuts or tricks It will be well worth it:D I need all the help I can get. Besides it looks like the guy made a real effort to put something usefull, that even the Cakewalk company, cant seem to find the time to do.

We should all pressure Cakewalk for a good comprehensive tutorial to be included with future releases. Its the least they could do!!!
Its a great program but many useful features go undiscovered or unused simply because of the lack of knowing you could do that!

Yup,I agree, this is the best site Ive found for learning tips on Sonar, Thats why its my second home nOW.

Yes! there was a site called www.musicated.com that was selling a pretty good Sonar tutorial, a while back. But, I dont see it listed anymore, perhaps they still have some to sell at a discount if someone contacts them. The one I got was WELL worth the $30 I paid for it. Probably the best $ investment a new sonar user could spend. IMHO

What was the name of the tutorial? And how was it presented? Video, book, CD, etc?

Wow! For $30, this tutorial will save newbies WEEKS or MONTHS of learning curve. I will probably buy it (being a noob).
 
Yeah, I decided to order one myself! Cant hurt! I dont know why Cakewalk cant put a comprehensive one together. We should let them know that they need to include that in sonar 3 :D :D

Hi Scott, Well Im one of your best customers then:D Ive purchased both cakewalk power and Sonar power ! WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO MAKE ONE OF THESE CD VIDEO TUTORIALS?

Since Ive got your attention briefly, Ive got a question for you.

Have you ever covered a method for making loops in Sonar of, for instance, a 15-20 second guitar part which repeats in a song. Ive done it before but it takes forever to get the start and end to seam and the loop construction view does not work well for such long parts. what I do is make a selection to loop with markers while playing the portion ,(approximately) and then adjust the start and end marker points until it sounds right. Then I can copy that section with as many repeats as needed.
Since you have to listen to the entire loop each time through, then stop the program and adjust the start and/or end of the selection this is very Time consuming.

Any Ideas?
Ill check your site out again as I have not been there for a while.

Yeah, I know... I've been asked that before, so I'm finally going to start doing some CD tutorial products. The first will cover Project5, then another for Sonar 3. I haven't planned any others yet. I'll be keeping everyone informed via the DigiFreq newsletter.

Making your own loops in Sonar can be difficult. It doesn't really have the right tools for creating loops. It has plenty of tools for using loops, but creating them is a different story. Using an audio editor like Sound Forge is much easier because it actually provides specific tools for creating audio loops.

I'll look into creating loops in Sonar though and see if I can come up with something and cover it in a future article for DigiFreq.
