Back from the mic forum.

Here's a tune I did with the free mic I got at a Sam Ash buy this get that sale, when I bought my Zoom MRS-4

I was supposed to get a EV C07, but they ran out and gave me a C09, not bad for free.

Would love to hear comments from mic fanatics, and non fanatics.

I know im probably old enough GT, but I don't recongnise the tune bro:p sorry hehe. I'm listening on cheap speakers here but I thought it sounded pretty good. Can't beat free, good score man!
 
Sounds good. Nice playing. And I recognize the tune. Can't think of who does it.

Sounds like there's some bottom missing, especially in the voice. Did you pull it out? Or is that how it was captured?

Love that free stuff:D. I got the free "Sound Addict" T-shirt with a mic from Musicians Friend. Rather have a free mic.

I am probably old enough to remember the song but, once you get past a certain age, you start forgetting a lot of shit and then before you know it, you're wearing Depends and chasing the nurses around the old folks home and then when you catch and corner one, you forget what to do with them......

But, I digress.

The guitar and vocal both sounded very smooth and well preformed. Very good dynamic control and just a hint of a dull top end to both parts.

My only experience with EV microphones is from the one that I bought and payed for, which was the BK1, a small handheld stage and studio use, condenser. I love the sound of mine and use it for a multitude of applications and I do hear a similar tonality between yours and mine, minus a bit of top end on yours.

I agree with the ghost that it'a a little dull on top but it has a nice warm sound that is plaesing to the ears.
I love EV mics, I've gone to using them instead of Shures for live sound.
Nice playing and singing.

I'm old enough to remember when you got free sex with purchases but I still don't recognise this. :)

Thanks yeah, I think like the most of us, constantly working on tone. I was shooting for a folk tone on this one, even used silk & steel strings, fingerpicked with skin.

EQed -8db on vox, maybe too much? Allways up in the air on EQ, aren't we all?!?

Thanks for the compiment, I'm never completely satisfied with my vocals especially. I just keep plugging away. Glad it sounded smooth.

Yeah the top end, I tried to go with what sounded like the most natural sibilence to set the highs, ended up with a 3db boost. Maybe 4db would have been better.

Yeah, after visiting the mic forum, I allmost hate to admit finding a mic that I like on my voice, and free to boot, must have lucked out.

Yeah I himed and hawed over the guitar tone for quite awhile, glad it wasn't in vein. Silk and steel strings may have payed off, on this tune.

EV mics may be the sleeper mics, you don't hear much about.

I probably wouldn't have even thought about buying one if it hadn't been free hehe.

If nothing else I love the what seems to me to be a very natural sibilence coming out of this mic. This seems to me to be a good test of the high frequency of a mic.

Now that I like my vocal mic, all I have to do is perfect my voice, that should be easy enough, NOT!!

The free sex deal sounds good, but homerecors might actually prefer a free mic, you know us!!
