Fractured Fairytales Rock Inst

Someone else with decent hearing just listened and said there's a hiss. Can you hear it? Need EQ feedback. Can't hear HF goobers.

I don't detect any noise. I think it sounds wonderful. What may be mistaken for noise in the sinth. Its like a choir and when all the other instruments are on, it sounds like noise. Great work, man.

I think that's exactly it. The synth choir is giving a little "airy" sound which i suppose could be mistaken for the hiss.

Cool song Jeff. No real nit picks here. Very rock guitar tone.

Yeah...took a hit at the bong, slung the axe low, and made believe I was 16 again...channelling Jimmy Page....:^) [I think I captured just the right amount of slop in the last guitar lick.]

The guy who heard the hiss had the same issue a couple years back, I remembered: it was the 'fair breath' samples from the Kerzweil. Maybe he's more sensitive...bat-ears. Or maybe the program sucks , and I can't hear why. I got real paranoid about it...I checked the graph for a bump in the hiss-zone. not anything unusual. The cymbals and HH have a lot of verb...I was thinking I overdid it. The only thing I hear is something right at the end...there's an artifact on the super-distorted guitar just before fade...sounds hiss-like. But I'm pretty confident that if you can't zone in on it, I'm safe.

Now the pick sounds...if I zone in on them, can drive me nuts. Once I start hearing them, I can't shake 'em...sounds like a lapdog yapping....

I need a humbucked guit! Save the Strat for cleaner things. Oh yeah, Santa...a stack o' Marshalls would be swingin'.....

Dude, I listen to this song I think of that song... "Slow Ride...take it easy"...which inherently makes me think of the opening sequence of Air America. One of my favorite movies.

Oh how I want there to be lyrics here! Awesome tune, great arrangement, nice change ups, love the guitar work and zero hiss. Good learning material for a young songwriter like myself.

It has words. but my daughter come up with the vocal melody and lyric. About 7 years ago, she started singin' it at the kitchen table, and I put together the guitar groove.

She isn't speaking to me these days, and got real miffed when I posted a remaster from an old recording of it here and on SC. The auto-fill-ins suggested that I'd C'righted the entire work. I sent her the link for a mothers' day present. She sent me a nasty letter.

So I just put my personal contribution in this new version...hoping to get a deodorant commercial license for it, or something. This part is mine.

I tried to come up with a new melody...but the original is stamped on it for good....can't shake it.

ps...take good care of your ears. Power tools and firearms...not music...done me in. The loss wasn't accumulative...spent years playing in very loud bands. Ears were fine. I used to be required to take annual combat pistol training. In the early years, they'd make us do it with no protection..to simulate 'real life'. Strike one. Then I had an incident with a 10,000rpm fender grinder in the transom of a sailboat I rebuilt. Five seconds. My good ear lost all HF hearing. One-time event. Strike two. Crippled me for this enterprise...but I try to adjust and adapt. Your ears are gold. Be ever over-cautious.

Very cool track, Jeff.
Love your guitar and bass sound. Cool solo at the end. I don't hear any hiss.
I think the mix is fabulous. Too bad about the vocals.

Joey :):):):)

Too bad about the daughter side of things.
this could be a tough rocker or ballad depending on the melody.
Your arrangement is really good - the bass & guitar synch is F.A.B.
Hiss no.
Synths section - could be the cause as it does have an odd response mixed with the cymbals - not at all an issue though.
Strutting Rock - 'tis v'good!

It's a chick-rocker about keeping the fairytale of a knight in shining armor at heart...in spite of the mean things boys are inclined to do the a young teenage girl.

I was sort of a model for her inspiration...until I did mean things to her ma. Which is the reason she isn't particularly fond of me....
I earned the disrespect.

I like the guitar thing....which is why I made the effort to record it again...one of my better ideas. Don't have enough...ever.

My personal nit is that the exit synth needs more 'saw' in it...to namby and pamby, coming after Jimmy Page shakin' the guitar with his eyes rolled up into his head.
