I'm trying to mix some drum tracks I recorded on my four track to computer. I tried hooking up the stereo outs to the line on my computer but that didn't seem to work. That worked fine when I did the same thing with my PA mixer. Any help with this problem is appreciated. Thanks

If you're telling the truth about being able to run your PA into your soundcard, then...

The "stereo outs" on your 4-track might be monitor outs. Did you try turning up the monitor volume on your 4-track? If they truely are a line out, then you have to make sure that you're routing the mix there...I have no idea how it'd work on your 4-track but there's probably some sort of Aux/Submix bus toggle. Play with it & check your manual. If you know that you have a signal getting out and you still aren't getting anything via your soundcard, then you have a completely different problem, but then it wouldn't have worked with your PA.

Also make sure that your record source for the internal system mixer in your computer is switched to line and not to mic or CD or whatever.

The JM,

I have a Sony 4trac digital. It has a "cue" button and a "stereo" button. "Cue" is for monitor out and "stereo" is for stereo out. If you don't have the correct button depressed you won't get a signal out. Of course there are other routing problems that could be causing no signal also.
