Fostex X-15?

Just got one of these and I was wondering what tape to use. Will any old audio cassette do, like the ones you can buy on amazon?

Also, if anyone's got one, do you know how to do the 'seven track bounce'?

I had one about 25 years ago when they were new. Don't remember what tape it was spec'd for.

Any 4-track will let you record 1-3 and bounce those to 4. Then record 1-2 and bounce those to 3. Then record 1 and 2. Voila, 7 tracks.

It would probably work better on a machine with some kind of noise reduction (I don't think the X-15 had any). I've made nice recordings on 4-track cassettes, but only when I did not bounce anything. Not saying it can't be done, it's just challenging.
