FOSTEX VF-08 vs. ROLAND vs880

Fostex Vf-08 vs. Roland vs880

if anyone can give me the overall stats of the two, or compare them and pros/cons of them, I'd really appreciate it. Sorry for the "slurred" typing. I just got off work and can barley keep my eyes open.

You could do a search OR go to their respective websites for stats.

I would suggest the Roland, but I might be biased. :)

Heres what i've gathered so far...

The roland seems to be more widley used and supported...

But the VF08, to my liking, has built in phantom power, waveform editing, on-board effects, on-board mastering... it just seems like a better unit...

Then again, i'm kinda biased to fostex, havin a DMT 8-VL previously (god rest her soul. hahaha)...

anyone with the roland point of view, please feel free to list it's major pro's...

Roland prices are dropping but they have a small screen and their manual is just as bad as Yamaha.

I'd check out the Yam DAW2816. I have one and am still on the learning curve but the sound of the box has been praised by most posts I've read.

The Yam unit has its own CDRW built in; the whole process stays in the digital domain.

Roland proabably works all right but you have to have a Roland CD burner with a Roland digital box.

but see, the yamaha + cd burner is probably in the upper 1000's?

the fostex vf-16 can be bought new for 800 and on ebay for like 600...

so i still havent come to a verdict.

If you'll notice, rabiduz, rabiduz has only a few handfuls of posts. I'd have to say rabiduz is a newbie, thusly, rabiduz posted in the newbie forum.

Yeah, you're right; the price of the 2816 is around 1800 pezzutos but some vendors ask 2k. I got mine at Full Compass.

But, good luck with whatever unit you choose.

What exactly are you trying to record? You know, genre, # of tracks, etc. I have the Korg D1600 and absolutely love it. It wouldn't hurt to look into it's little bro, the D12.
