Hey, my computer's been acting up these last few days (freezing). I'm getting a little sick of using computers to record. They're not bad, but am thinking of exploring other options.
Was looking into stand-alone mutitrackers and came across one in my budget, the Fostex MR16HD (sans-CD Burner).
There's some questions I'm hoping to get answered. I'll also add, that I own a Focusrite Saffire and an Akai MPK49.
My first question is, can any of those devices be hooked up to the Fostex, or any other multitracker for that matter? Like is it possible to use the pres from the Saffire instead of the Fostex? I've heard the Fostex pres are sub-par.
Second, do you guys think it's better to go this route (in my case), or should I buy another computer and continue to work in an environment that I'm use to?
And third, can these multitrackers be used to edit files the way software can, like move the position of recorded tracks to be on beat and such. Trim them, etc.
That's most of what I wanted to know, so if you guys can answer some of these Qs, then it's appreciated. Thanks.
