I'm only using my PXR4 as a dictator, scrach pad, and recording quick ideas at rehearsals, and etc. I have a box full of 128MB cards... but, I would like to know more about your friends card setup... thanks.

PS... I've had a EBTECH line level shifter in my toolbox for years. ;)

Oh... is there a way to make the PXR4 drums stop automatically at the end of a song? Thanks again, Don.

Hi Richie... ok the AT PRO24 seems to to have a little more hi sheen than the Sony ECM-MS907... but the M/S is nice on the MS907... both mics are an improvement over the PXR4 built-in mic because mic placement is easier and you can control the PXR4 without the built-in mic picking up finger/button noise... but IMO, the PXR4 built-in mic is better for recording things like conferences because the gain is hotter and seems to pick up more directions. I'm going to build a little battery powered stereo preamp with two mini 1/8" jacks (in/out), one gain knob and a clip LED for boosting the mic.

Anyway, I'm use to using much higher end mics so I'm not sure or not if I'd recommend the AT PRO24 or Sony ECM-MS907... maybe, maybe not, it depends on what and how someone wanted to use them for and with. I'll see if anyone I know owns a Sony ECM-MS957 that I can barrow... if so, I'll let you know how the AT PRO24 and Sony ECM-MS907 stand up against the Sony ECM-MS957. Don

GOSH, how could I miss that thread!! damn!

I used pxr4 for a year and I loved it... umm.. I think everything smart is already said... its awesome.. ok, bye

That one I don't know, Don. Only this- How they are stored and handled is a major factor, and there are quality differences in cards from different manufacturers. I have 3 128mb cards I've been using for 3 years, and one of them is a bit wonky. When I load it, it will often give me a "card retry" error, and may take several attempts at loading it before the Pandora reads it. The other 2, and a 32mb card I also have, have never given me any trouble. It's almost like when an old credit card starts to become unreadable to an ATM. Fingerprints, dirt, or dust on the gold surface is bad, though, I'm sure of that.-Richie

Hey thanks again Richie, I know the best way to handle the card is by not touching the contacts... but what is the best way to store them? I've been keeping my cards in a little case made to hold them... is that good enough?

Hey thanks for the help... I bought a case of 128MB Smart Media cards and they didn't come with cases... however, I did buy some cases like the ones you posted in the link... so I guess I'm good to go. Thanks again for your help. Don :)

Thanks Richie... I'm checking it out right now.

EDIT: the http://www.microtechint.com website is down... "Sorry, this site is temporarily unavailable. Please check back later."... so I'll check back later. :D
