This is meant for a female vocalist..But a friend, Marty..kindly used his talents and time to put it to music for me.

For You...
©2004 Martin Gillman/Sharon Mark

(vs1)
Standing on the premise...
Of a love beyond my reach.
Striving just to touch it...
Your boundries to breach.
A shadow in your eyes...
Reflects to me your heart.
But as hard as I try...
I'm searching in the dark.

(ch)
It's for you...I'm holding on to nothing...
It's for you... that I'm holding on for life.
And it's for you...should I never get hold your heart...
It's all for you...God know's I will have tried.

(vs2)
Persuing in the midnight...
My heart is on the edge.
Trying to reach the bottom...
But I'm stranded on a ledge.
There's hidden in your depths...
A love I know thats lost.
I'll do my best to find it...
No matter what the cost.

(ch)
It's for you...I'm holding on to nothing...
It's for you... that I'm holding on for life.
And it's for you...should I never get hold your heart...
It's all for you...God know's I will have tried.

(vs3)
Determined to get to you...
I"ll open up your world.
And emerge from the deep...
Holding the rarest pearl.
To me you are a treasure...
And your hiding it all.
But the only reason that...
I'll gladly take my fall.

(ch)
It's for you...I'm holding on to nothing...
It's for you... that I'm holding on for life.
And it's for you...should I never get hold your heart...
It's all for you...God know's I could have tried.

(br)
If it takes this lifetime to bring you into view...
It will be more than worth it And I'll do it all for you.

Hey Smile.
Very nice lyrics.
Some very powerful lines.

It was a bit difficult in the beginning to imagine a lady singing it, but she finally broke through. ;)
Good job.

There are some very masculine phrases in there - breaching boundaries, emerging from the deep, etc. sound like metaphors a man would use. This could either be and advantage or a detriment, depending on your audience.

BTW, the Gender Genie thinks it was written by a male. ;)

LMAO... First thank you Badges for being the first person after 93 views to actually post, very kind and muchly appreciated.. I am happy you enjoyed the song :)

and Dirtythermos...you made me laugh hehehe.
the gender genie eh? ;) that means I pass :P
actually...this was written by me..a female lol..about someone I know.
however... I do have a tendency to like to write songs for the male composer/vocalist..as I prefer listening to more male singers than female lol.
I personally think Marty did a fantastic job..a slightly modified version is coming.
but the male vocals were up my alley.
but because of the melody.. it was reaching his vocal limits..he suggested it
would be better done by a female singer
and I admit... I kinda really like it sung by a male :) lol :D
anyway thank you muchly :)

Smile.
