Impressive looks and specs. I am glad he made them to be easily soffit mounted without all the need to build low freq filters and such.
I'll be looking foward to see what thet sound like, although the price is temporarily out of my price range.

Yeah, it's been a long time in development, but well worth the months and months of backlogged sleep loss.:) I hope everyone gets a chance to hear them at some point. The MiniMain is truly in a class all it's own (...cut to the new father brimming with pride).

Malcom, The cylindrical speakers I previously had posted on my site were about 10 year old designs. They were acting as placeholders until I could get my new products launched. I don't have any immediate plans for passives, but they're surely to come. If you have any specific needs/wants, let me know. The MiniMain design owes quite a lot to the questions and feedback I've gotten in these forums over the past couple of years.

Once the MiniMain has established it's reputation as one of the world's premier studio monitors, suitable for near field or main monitor applications - which I'm certain it will :) - then I plan to introduce a more affordable "MiniMain Lite" version. This will take some time, because it requires quite a sizable capital investment to manufacture higher quantity, lower cost systems. I'm guessing the price will be about half that of a MiniMain.

I would also like to offer speakers in the <$2k price range, but I doubt that I can call them MiniMains. Not that they wont be outstanding in their own right. They'll just need to be a little more modest.:) So, yes. As soon as I'm able, I'm going to offer monitors for the homerecording crowd. Y'all is my homies after all.:D

The MiniMain™12 dimensions are:
17"x19"x15" (432x483x381mm) - HxWxD

The power module can be detached and mounted separately. Connections are via normal 5-way speaker binding posts. The speaker cabinet itself is 17"x19"x11" (432x483x254mm).

Bryston has just suggested that I let them build the entire power module, chassis and all. So the depth could change slightly depending on how this pans out. However, I plan to keep the overall height and width (17"x19") constant throughout the lifetime of the product.

Btw, a center channel version is also in the works. The dimensions will be the same, but the tweeter and midbasses will be centered with two smaller subs on either side.

Barefoot Sound isn't completely out of reach though. I have some DIY designs posted on the Recording Studio Design Forum. One project I have in the works is a dual 6.5" passive monitor specifically designed for soffit mounting. Parts should run about $400. That and a modicum of woodworking skills will get you one of my designs.:) I should have this project posted in a few months.

I'm pretty sure they can be used as nearfields or mains...

I definitely need to expand on the info section of my website to explain MiniMain's benefits further. But yes, the dual-purpose functionality as either a near field or a soffit-mounted main is one of its many strong points. Simply with the turn of a selector switch you can set the response to flat anechoic or flat half space. This feature was designed into the unit from its inception. There's no guesswork or approximation like with those "bass tilt" filters.

As a near field the MiniMain12 is absolute overkill in every sense of the word.:) It can perform this function effortlessly - which is exactly what you want. As a main monitor it can deliver loads highly linear power - acting as a world class reference monitor while also rocking the socks off the customers.:)

Of course, if you had the luxury of putting MiniMains into your listening room or home theater, they would easily stand up to hi-fi systems costing 3 times as much.
