Axe......... thanks man ............I may have to......

oh the horror :D

Jake!

A mid-low cut in the rhythmn guit?

You got it man...next mix for sure....
with lead from a mic and a better bass track......I really suck at bass....

Thanks fellas :D
Joe

Hey Joe,

Nice bed but I could use at least 1 deceptive cadence.....even an occassional (VI) chord snuck in to replace (I) would work in this genre.

PM me when it gets close to done if I happen to be away from the board.

Your bud down the street.

How's now? :D

come on over man...bring your gear and we'll put this puppy to sleep :D

Joe :D

I gotz ... mixdown_sept_4_miced_second.mp3 , and it's very bassy and the drums and bass are distoring a bit.

Is this like Halloween, where you reach in and get differnt kinds a Kandy mistah ?

:D

Thanks for checking it out Studioviols...but, there are no drums at all.............must be the wrong tune...hmmmm....
I just re-mixed man...added cello and pan flute and mic-ed the lead guit...sqashed the bass a bit.....mid-low cut in the rhythmn acoustic guit and tamed the levels overall really....new file is up at both sites.....

New file is September_15_Mix

Uncle Joro :)
I think you have some nice ideas here - some very listenable melodies. It just needs a retrack. The signals were a little hot and things are a little boomy. Pay attention to your mic placement when you get to that stage. As you know, it's better to get a good sound going in (less boomy for example) then trying to EQ it out later.

Let's hear this thing again in it's next stage!

Take care.

Hope all is well.

Todd

listening to sept. 15 mix.. good feel to the tune.. the direct guitars don't bother me too much in the rhythm.. some of the loosness in the performance needs to be looked at, and maybe a minor change somewhere would be cool..guitars sound a little hot at times.. good start to a tune here..

this can be a nice lil piece. The cello and flute are cool with the guitar. There`s a bit of clipping it sounds like on the guitar wiht a tad of muddiness. You might roll off a few of the deep lows on the guitars, back off on the level a bit and compress it. That would let the cello out more and the flute. Cool vibe..

Sounds real nice to me, overall!

Nitpicks -- maybe a few timing issues. I think it could be just a tad tighter all the way around.

I very much like the strings (cello?) coming into the piece. That was a great touch.

Would love to hear this with some vocals.

Overall a very relaxing tune!

:D

Hey man, How goes it?
Yeah...you know me....it's never quite finished and yes I am going to re-track it soon....with a change up musically and better structure....and hopefully better technique.. Thanks for checking it out man...my best to the rest :D

Sam
Well...the guits on these tracks are all miced.....I think I need to take the Tube Pre off of my signal chain and just use the pre on my mixer....or go back to my little Behringer....at least I could handle that...and yes indeed, I agree that the whole thing is loose...I am gonna re-track for sure....thanks man :)

Toki
Hey man, Thanks for checking it out.....my synth sucks but it has a couple of decent tones to it....cello and especially the pan flute sound cool....even better if I had remembered to EQ them...
I am gonna re-track definitely with the pads in mind man....Thanks :D

boydrj
Timing is my biggest problem of all man but, I am getting better at it Thanks for checking it out man, I appreciate it...more to come...sometime soon.

EDIT
I did a new mix after this post...sucked the bass out with a straw and tamed the guits and turned the pads up to take the spotlight...EQ-ed the cello and added verb to the Pan Flute....
it's a lot better :D

New Folk Tune at soundclick.......

and at NoWhereRadio too.........................

Thanks again fellas,
Joe

very nice thang going on here. sounds like a keeper for sure.

Hey Joe – Nice relaxing sound here. I like it. The lyrics aren’t bad either. Not Country…but I guess that’s ok ;).

Oh…btw…I got my homework and am studying. ;) I’ll email you soon. :)

Sounds nice. Not really folk IMO. I like the free flowing vibe of this alot. However, it's a bit busy, and a little more space in arrangement, or at least in the stereo field might help this to flow into the ears more freely. Maybe experiment with the panning a bit more?

I think you should experiment with this some more, but maybe try to solidify the melodies into stronger themes. Your choices in mood and tones lend themselves to some nice composition and arrangement possibilities. Looking forward to hearing what comes next.

Tom

first of all... great playing/feel...

The main rhythm guitar sounds like it can't breathe... almost like compression, squashing the sh*t out of it... but the threshhold is too fast, as is the decay... (a wild guess)

Agree with the "more space" comments... maybe dial back the compression on one or two parts, compress the supporting parts and drop them back (keys/flute/flute patch?) throw the bass in the center... and put some nice room sound on the rest.

Keep going, Zorro... will be looking for your mark.

Thanks for the cool advice man...I tried to follow it....new mix is up.....I had compressed the shit out of the guitar but I backed off and did a light limit and a soft verb and lowered the levels and spread out the pan....
Sounds cool but maybe a little too soft...I dunno...

Thanks man! :D

Thanks again fellas,
Joe

EDIT
Thanks for the star Bub.......dickhead :D
