I've posted two countryish/poppish songs on Soundclick - and I could definitely use help on the mixes. I'm especially wondering how the acoustic guitars should be mixed to avoid muddiness, and the appropriate level of compression to use. Oh, and <ahem> ... I'm aware that I can't sing too well ...

Thanks for any feedback...

I listened to March Song. A bit of America combined with Mid 60s Beatles. Drums need more clarity I think. Bass can come up. Ac gtrs sound OK, I'm not hearing any muddiness there.

nice

It certainly has an America quality. I like the mood. I like the sound quality. On 99th day the slide guitar swells over power the vocals in some sections, be careful there. I really like the songwriting as well. It's easy to get lost in.

Thanks for the feedback... yes I was so entranced with my slide guitar trickery that I probably let it creep up in the mix too much. One of the challenges in mixing (for me) is to avoid the audio equivilant of myopia - fixation on one sound or track rather than the balance between elements.

March Song is cool, very nice vocals. I don't think it's muddy, it's just pretty involved with the percussion.
