I need some help setting up my voicemaster pro to a Studio Projects C-3 Microphone. I do rap music, how can I adjust it for rap music, can any pros help with a picture with the settings set on it? Or can someone walk me through,

It'll be greatly appreciated. Thanks seriously.

where are the settings, and what is pinged you with settings mean?

Maybe he means he sent you a personal message?

I think he was being sarcastic.

Meaning that its not that easy, you'll have to play with it on your own.

I sent a Voicemaster Pro diagram, courtesy of the Focusrite site, and marked some of the most likely settings to get you started.

Ping means to send, as in email, instant message etc.

However, it could be loosely associated with PING golf clubs which means I just bounced a golf ball off your head.

Hey I tried recording some vocals and r&b singers today and the sound started clipping, does clipping mean that it was recorded too loud and some how it got distorted because I recorded it so loud? with the voice master pro, how can i use the compressor, so I can set it to a level where it won't clip, and all singers will be on a mutual level where I won't have to keep adjusting the volume to each person. Thanks brother.

Sorry for all the questions. Also is it possible to
stop the beat from doing a double beat when I use the
headphones, the beat seeps through the headphones into
the microphone, and the beat and the vocal no longer
matches on track, it basically sounds like the beat is
hitting two times, then the sound is off beat, is
there a way to adjust this some how with the
voicemaster pro?

How time flies. This thread is 4 years old and the VM Pro is long gone from my rack as are the settings I sent above, sorry. Now if you need some settings for a Portico 5012 I could help you.

Hold up.. I found this on my hard drive. These may be the settings.

Found them and attached them.

I'm willing to bet after 5 years he's got it figured out or gave up.

Welcome to the site!!! :)

Boy this thread has got some legs, eh?

So, to those of you that do use the VM Pro, how do you like it. I see one right now on ebay for super cheap. Like half-price cheap. Should I snag it?

Thoughts? Criticisms (of the VM Pro, not me)?

Thanks!

Bill

Some threads are only relevant in their time.

I agree with Big Kenny, better pres now for less money.

None of these were around back when this thread started. Also, I sold my VoiceMaster Pro years ago. I can't even say if the settings above were optimal or not as I posted them long after I sold the unit. It was just an image I still had on that hard drive, I believe I stated "may" be the ones.

Let you ears be the judge.

Anyone have some suggestions of good settings for the Focusrite Voicemaster (Not Pro) for recording pop/rock vocals? All I want is a really good in-sound. The effects and compression I will add in the mix. I gladly take any suggestions.

Bypass everything except for the head amp gain. Keep as little in the input chain as possible (with that particular unit, really as little as possible). Output at unity, shoot for levels at the DAW of around -18 to -15dBFS (ish) and go.
