Besides all the obvious hardware differences (including the ins/outs), the interfaces both contain the same pres and converters. You'll have to look closely at the hardware features offered on each interface to decide which one suits you the best.

That's what I'm saying. All the in/outs are completely the same. The devices look identical with exception to the firewire/usb port. ^_^ It seems they are basically the same thing(price and all)..and the only preference is if you want firewire or usb.

No, there are actually some differences in the ins/outs. The Scarlett has 6 line inputs, 2 monitor outputs, plus an optical input. The Saffire has 2 line inputs and 4 monitor outputs, but no optical in.

The Scarlett also has a nice meter bridge that helps you manage your two main inputs and your 6 line inputs.

Please forgive me if I am being naive as I do not own either.. But from looking at pictures of both they are completely identical. I am not sure what an optical input is but if it is hardware then the firewire pro 14 must have it too. I am very inexperienced in this so once again forgive me if I am wrong. Just trying to understand what you are saying. Also don't both the Saffire PRO 14 and the Scarlett 8i6 have 8 ins and 6 outs?

Oh, yes. I'm sorry for the confusion. I thought you were talking about the Scarlett 18i6, which is very different from the Scarlett 8i6. In this case, the 8i6 and the Pro 24 do appear to have the same physical features, except for one using firewire and one using USB. You are correct.
