Okay, I'm setting up a studio for the community that I live in. We're on a really tight budget. I've been looking into various types of foam for diffusion and deadening the room to make it more manageable. We don't have the funds to fine tune or buy Auralex... so we're trying to find things that are close and do the best that we can.

There is a matress factory near by, and I was going to look into foam from them. It's pretty cheap from them.

I was also trying to build some dividers for when multiple musicians, namely in a celtic band are all playing together in the same room, to help lessen bleed over from mic to mic.

Is there anywhere you all could direct me, or do you have any thoughts or suggestions?

Can you say, Blazing Inferno. I just burnt some matress and couch cushions. Don't put the stuff in yer studio man.

Sorry, that's the wrong kind of foam. You'll just be wasting your money. You know what they say - "buy cheap, buy twice."

okay, great... i appreciate the feedback... so... um suggestions on the right direction to move in here. Like a decent place to get 703 or similar... they all look the same to me and I don't really understand the benefits of 703 vs. 705 for example. I've searched and searched... any thoughts?

Isn't 705 foil faced, which means it'l absorb better at low, but reflect higher freqs.

703 and 705 can be either unfaced or FSK faced.

Yes. Practice patience.

Save some more money, and have a professional or at least someone who is familiar with the local fire codes install it, and have it inspected.
